Rocket Man

Who could go to Houston without a visit to The Johnson Space Center?!   Not Me!!

Some dates remain in your brain your entire life:  I remember three related to the Space Race: 1969, Landing on the moon (I was a senior in High School);
The 1986 Space Shuttle Challenger explosion;
The Columbia in 2003.

And now they are planning a return to the moon sometime in this decade....Artemis

There was also some talk about Mars....
but that seems pretty far-fetched to me....but then... ?

It is a pretty amazing place.

"One Small Step for Man, One Giant Leap for Mankind."

They have preserved the Apollo Mission Control Room.
It's all set up the same as the day Neil Armstrong walked on the moon...
right down to the ash trays in the seat backs in the gallery.

Karen Nyberg quilts in Space! HERE

Beans are not for astronauts.  HERE

I wonder if anyone has played their ukulele in Space?

My last evening in Houston was spent with my Baby Brother, Brad and
his wife, Janet, just hangin out.

Janet was showing me her "slow stitching."

Have you heard of "slow stitching?"

Recently a video popped up in my YouTube about slow stitching.  I did not pay much attention to it... I thought it was just someone showing how she saves and uses all her little fabric scraps (and even her thread bits.)

But then Janet used those words...."slow stitching" and my ears perked up.  "Tell me more!"

Slow stitching is basically hand sewing for relaxation...there are various approaches...some "just sewing"...no idea what it will be in the end, just pick up your needle and some scraps and sew....

Another approach is with an actual "something" in mind.  A little scene or in one YouTube example, a needle book.

They're Fabric Collages

Examples:

This is from a YouTube channel Night Owl Crafts and Collectables.  She has an entire collection of these cute, little stitched scenes.  HERE

Makes me want to do one!  ... or a dozen!

Here is an example where the creator simply took
scrap fabric and made a pallet, from where she will build her project.

I like this channel...she has a very pleasant voice.  HERE

Search for "slow stitching" on YouTube.  There is an entire community out there!
(A lot of videos on how to get started.)

Now that I know it is actually "a thing" I'll pay more attention, and maybe even try it!
