All Things New

"20 20".... doesn't it have a nice ring to it!?

I will admit, toward the end of 2019 I felt very frustrated and defeated with quilting.  I think I did it to myself by expecting to finish far too many projects.  I had a long, long list of UFOs.

All I accomplished was to frustrate myself because, life being what it is and stopping for no project, I didn't get nearly as many UFOs completed as I had intended.

"20 20" will be different, I said to myself.  I  decided to NOT participate in any BOMs*, challenges or list making in this new year.  Just sew when and what I felt like sewing.

I kept that promise to myself for exactly one day.

I can't help it....I am a list-maker by nature.  I never met a list I didn't like.  I have list tablets all around my home and ToDo apps on my phone.  So Yes, I did sign up for the
2020 UFO Challenge.  Truth be told, I have 3 sheets of listed UFOs. (Roughly the same as last year.)

But, Wait!  This year will be different! I pinkie swear!

I WILL actually ditch some projects, patterns and fabric that no longer "speak" to me.

And, I got a little head start.  January's number for the UFO Challenge is #2 on our list of UFOs.  My #2 is to clean the sewing studio...which I did on New Year's Day.

I could have stopped with this ONE challenge...but, NOOOoooo.  I also signed up for the Stash Buster Challenge.

Now, In my own defense it is only one block.

Check out the FaceBook Page

You simply sew one block using scraps you already have.  At the end of the year, you assemble all the blocks into a quilt.  AND, you can use this block as Leaders-and Enders.  It practically sews itself!  Good idea, no?

On those nights when you just want to sew, but you don't actually want to sew on any project?  This block is is YOUR block.

Only one more thing on my "20 20" list;  I will make at least one quilt just for ME.  I give away nearly everything I make.
In the 10 years I've been quilting I've only sewn one quilt specifically for myself.  A few years ago my quilting Auntie and I participated in a BOM sponsored by EZ Sew Too in Spokane, WA

I already have two patterns with the fabric collections AND they ARE on my UFO list...I can tick off two things.

So, folks, that is the plan, for "20 20."
